How to Grow Cat Grass at Home in Just 7 Days – Easy Step-by-Step Guide with the Cat FurNature 4-Pack

If you’re searching for “how to grow cat grass at home”, “cat grass kit instructions UK”, or “grow your own cat grass”, you’re in the right place. Growing fresh cat grass is one of the simplest and most effective ways to support your cat’s natural instincts and digestive health — and it’s ridiculously easy with the right kit.

At Cat FurNature, our Cat Grass 4-Pack is designed specifically for UK cat owners who want a continuous supply without any fuss. Here’s everything you need to know, straight from our official growing instructions.

What’s Included in the Cat FurNature Cat Grass 4-Pack?

  • 4 small plastic pots with lids
  • Portioned potting soil in each
  • 4 portioned packs of UK-grown grass seeds (wheatgrass grown for human consumption on a local family farm)
  • 4 small packets of extra soil for covering the seeds (no need to dig around in the soil yourself)

The 4-Pack gives you four complete kits in one box — perfect for starting a new tray every 6–7 days so your cat never runs out and at great value!

Step-by-Step: How to Grow Cat Grass at Home

  1. Prepare the soil Open one container and remove the soil packet. Gently and evenly compress the soil into the pot. (If using a refill kit with our Luxury Pots or your own container, empty the large bag of soil and compress it the same way.)
  2. Add the seeds Open one bag of the UK-grown grass seeds and pour them evenly on top of the soil. Spread them out nicely.
  3. Cover the seeds Open the small bag of soil and spread it evenly over the seeds so they’re lightly covered. Gently flatten the surface (no sandcastles today!).
  4. Water carefully Add ¼ cup (60ml or two shot glasses) of water. Important: Do not overwater — you don’t want to drown the seeds like Rice Krispies!
  5. Cover and create the perfect environment For the plastic pots, lightly replace the lid (do not press it down). This keeps the soil moist while the seeds germinate. If using your own container, you can cover it lightly with the large soil bag. Place the pot in a bright, airy spot in your home — out of direct sunlight and cold drafts.
  6. Watch it grow In 4 to 5 days you should see green shoots appearing. Remove the lid and let your grass grow. Once the grass reaches at least 2 inches high (usually around day 7), it’s ready for your cat to enjoy.
  7. Ongoing care Water with ¼ cup of water once a week or when the soil feels very dry. Depending on conditions, one tray will last about 14 days after it’s ready.

Pro tip for continuous supply: Start your next kit from the 4-Pack every 6–7 days so you always have fresh grass ready.

Extra Tips for Best Results

  • Wider-mouthed containers give better growth than narrow ones if using your own.
  • Store any spare kits in a cool, dark place.

Why Grow Cat Grass? (Quick Reminder)

Even though cats are obligate carnivores, fresh grass provides the natural fibre they instinctively seek to help with hairballs and digestion — exactly like the indigestible parts of prey they would eat in the wild.

Safety note: Cats may eat grass and vomit — this is completely normal and helps bring up hair. If vomiting continues or other symptoms appear, contact your vet as a precaution.
