I thought this was going to have the same effect as catnip but it had the opposite effect on Bettie she went mad when I let her sniff the bottle so put some down for her she had a lick and thought she was going to on zooming round but she did not she got on the back of the sofa and went to sleep I am going to try this on my other cat who is quite nervous and already has calming sprays
Sorry this smells so bad.
My cat thinks this stuff is great. It has to be a top score for this and the fact that a little goes a long way. She is used to the occasional squirt or two from a spray bottle of valerian root on her bedding and other items she likes sitting on. For her the spray version calms & relaxes her. She enjoys licking it off. This powder has the same effect. Although she did try to swipe the bottle from me, after I had initially removed the lid and gave her a whiff of the contents from the bottle! For some cats, like mine, valerian root can be calming, and for others it can be like a catnip and get them playful and excited.I would have liked the bottle to have a safety seal to keep it fresher and for peace of mind that it hasn't been tampered with.
Sadly I can't add a full review of this product as I decided not to use it. The smell is just so bad that it made me gip. Its beyond cheesy socks, think gorgonzola left if the sun for 3 weeks. I imagine it works at keeping cats away from places but not sure if it calms them down. I'll try it again outside once the weather improves.
Awesome product. The American Cat whisperer promoted this product and boy does this work 😁
My cats go BONKERS for this!My male cat knows when im getting this out of the drawer... he runs from wherever he is and jumps up eyes like saucers... he then sniffs inside, bunts the lid and dribbles all over it, yawns (maybe the sedative effect of the valerian?) then starts rolling on his back and getting frisky with our tortie female. They playfight for ages. It's really funny to watch them.We leave them with a little scoop each on the floor next to them, and they're in heaven.
If catnip doesn't give your cat the buzz, then buy this, it is very strong smelling. I put a bit on my cats toy, window open, two hrs later and the smell is just as strong and my cat had the time of her life, she's now sleeping it off
Smells awful but my cats love it
My cat is obsessed with the valerian I take for sleep so I searched to find some valerian that would be safe for her. I let her sniff the bottle today and she went beserk (in a good way!) rubbing on everything and purring. I sprinkled a bit on a scratch pad she'd shown no interest in and she's currently rolling around on it, purring, legs covered in drool. 100% cat recommended!
Cat is obsessed with it. Much better than catnip. Yes it has a strong smell but that’s how valerian should be :)
